The work never stops for the self-proclaimed “Swamp Princess” Doechii. The Grammy-award-winning rapper is the cover star of the Dazed Spring 2025 issue, which was unveiled on Feb. 27, and the femcee, and the burgeoning model, left no crumbs as she posed for her incredible cover story.
Styled and photographed by IB Kamara, Doechii dazzled in a crochet skirt paired with silver-plated brass earrings from Acne Studios, complemented by lucite bangles from Alexis Bittar. The “NISSAN ALTIMA” rapper’s hair looked like it came out of a scene of B.A.P.S., intricately fashioned and layered to create a unique crown, thanks to innovative hairstylist Malcom Marquez. She tied the look together with dark and smokey makeup courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Dee Carrion.
The impeccable fashion did not stop there. In another photo, the star wore a lace dress with feather trim by Frederick Anderson, gold-plated brass earrings from Justine Clenquet, and a matching gold-plated brass bangle from Alexis Bittar (worn throughout the spread).
Doechii’s style is constantly evolving.
While chatting with Dazed about her personal style, Doechii said she loves tapping into how she feels at the moment to channel her fashion inspiration as her wardrobe is constantly evolving.
“It just depends on where I am in my life. I’ll never pinpoint myself,” the Florida native said.” I’ll never lock myself down to one particular style. It’s not me. It never will be me. I find it so depressing to feel like you have to dress one way, but I also admire people who can consistently stay in a bag.”
At the Grammys earlier this month, Doechii wore several stunning looks from fashion designer Thom Browne with a standout being an off-the-shoulder corset dress from the fashion brand. The intricate pinstripe dress featured a structured silhouette with sharp and exaggerated hips. It was a stark contrast to the beaded leather dress that she wore while attending the Off-White showcase during New York Fashion Week in 2024.
The rapper loves to start the day with meditation and a good cup of tea.
However, one area of structure and routine in the rapper’s life is in her daily habits. Mornings have become a crucial part of her day as she navigates her busy schedule. Doechii starts her mornings with meditation and enjoys a soothing cup of tea to set a positive tone for the day ahead.
“Lately, I’ve been starting my mornings early with tea and a good stretch. I’ve been trying this peach ginger tea. It’s really good,” she revealed. “I like to meditate and have time to myself. I’m around a lot of people all the time, and as much as I seem social, I’m really an introvert and I like to be by myself. I have my routine before I get social in the day, and then I either write a poem or try to create something in some way before I start. And then I get straight into work.”
It’s this routine, along with much more, that has fueled Doechii’s confidence and fearlessness in embracing her authenticity—something she deeply values both in her music and personal life. That is why she started her iconic YouTube vlogs, to serve as a daily practice of authenticity and a way to offer fans a glimpse into the raw, real and honest moments of her life.
For instance, Doechii’s 2020 “I Got Fired Thank God” video captured an authentic, vulnerable moment after losing a job. It not only revealed her raw emotions but also hinted at the determination she was about to pour into her music career, vowing to go all “in.”
“I needed an artist to be making vlogs like that and saying the things I was saying and be honest, because everybody, when they tell their come-up story, is like, ‘I did this, I learned that, I got it out the mud and now I’m here.’ Boom!” the rapper told Dazed. “But what about the part where you didn’t like your art? Nobody wants to admit that.”
