A Las Vegas judge has ordered Trey Songz to pay a hefty check to a Maryland Capitol police officer, following a 2021 dispute.According to TMZ, the R&B singer has been ordered to pay Tyrelle Dunn — a Maryland Capitol police officer who says he was injured after he tried to rescue his wife from Songz’s hotel room in 2021 — more than $11 million in damages.
Songz allegedly brought a group of women back to his hotel room at The Cosmopolitan in November of 2021, while celebrating his 37th birthday in Sin City, which is where Dunn alleged that his wife said she was being held against her will and screamed for help.
“Plaintiff’s wife was escorted by Defendant security personnel to room 6014 where she was told she would meet Trey Songz,” the lawsuit alleged. “That while in room 6014, plaintiff’s wife was assaulted, tried to leave and had her phone taken away.”
Dunn stated in his lawsuit he tried to intervene to help his wife but was attacked by Songz and his security. Dunn stated that this incident left him with several serious injuries, including fractured eye sockets and scarring that caused him to miss work.
“The attack has had a profound and everyday impact on my life. I still have the scarring, and suffer emotionally from the attack,” Dunn wrote. “I think about the attack every day when I see the injuries to my face and body.”
Songz was cleared of criminal charges in April of 2022 but was sued again by Dunn to which Songz never responded, leading to default Judgement against the “Say Ah” artist.
Songz might be able to recoup some of the funds lost, as he is part of “The Millennium Tour,” which includes a stop at MGM Grand Garden Area on April 25, 2025.
