Vice President Kamala Harris played Connect Four with her grandnieces Amara and Leela over the weekend – and pictures of the game are going viral.
In photos shared by her niece Meena Harris, the Vice President is seated on the floor, fully immersed in the childhood favorite game with family. Dressed in a cozy sweatshirt with the words “Howard Bison,” a nod to her alma mater, Howard University, she radiates joy. Her hair is casually styled in a messy bun, and her signature smile lights up her face.

The connection between the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, her family, and grandnieces (first introduced to many during the campaign) is infectious. Following a contentious election and devastating loss, the photo is a much welcomed moment of brevity and love.
“Back to where it all began only a few months ago. My eternal gratitude to everyone who showed up,” Meena captioned her pictures on Instagram. “We love her so much.”
Meena’s words point back to an earlier time in VP Harris’ 2024 election campaign journey. The VP had just learned that President Joe Biden was stepping step aside, leaving her as the potential candidate for the nation’s highest office.
In an August 29 CNN interview, the Vice President recalled the memory. She shared, “My family was staying with us, including my baby nieces, and we had just had pancakes.”
She added that she, Amara, and Leela were “sitting down to do a puzzle” when President Biden called.
