“The Apollo remains committed to providing a space for artists of African descent to tell their stories,” said Kamilah Forbes, Executive Producer of The Apollo.

“This series is about the blending of genres and generations,” commented Gus Wenner, CEO of Rolling Stone. “Being here at The Apollo to celebrate these artists is truly special.”

Busta Rhymes and GloRilla shared the stage for a lively discussion with host Toure that explored their unique techniques, influences, and the communities that shaped their music.

“It’s called relaxing,” Busta shared about speed rapping. “If we do a song like “Ante Up” or “Scenario,” me and Spliff will bounce off every part of the stage like we’re literally trying to break it in half. But if I’m doing “Break Ya Neck” or “Look At Me Now” or “Gimme Some More,” my movement is minimal, and Spliff will do all the antics around me to keep the animation going while I calm down. So it’s really about just centering everything to where the primary focus is, and in that moment it’s my mouth.”

“I could never do that,” GloRilla responded.. “My tongue’s too big or something! How do you do it?” she asked, laughing.

Busta praised GloRilla’s authenticity: “We see ourselves in her. She is unfiltered, she’s not politically correct and she’s the truth. And the beauty is when you are untainted by the industry, her music speaks to my soul like that. And it don’t hurt that she’s super sexy on top of it.”

GloRilla reminisced about the surreal moment Rihanna sang Glo’s hit “TGIF,” to hubby A$AP Rocky “I was so geeked. I swear to God, I screamed so loud. I was like, ‘Y’all, this ain’t real. Rihanna just dancing to my song.’ And I love Riri.”

GloRilla killed with performances of “Yeah Glo!,” “TGIF,” and “Hollon” captivating the audience with her dynamic energy. Busta Rhymes brought the house down with classics like “Look At Me Now,” “Ante Up,” and “Pass the Courvoisier, Part II,” showcasing the showmanship that has defined his decades-long career.

Brittany Howard and Grammy nominated artist Doechii reflected on influences, self-care, and the rise of women in the music industry.

Howard praised Doechii’s versatility: “You can tell your story in so many different ways, and it’s incredible to watch.” Doechii noted Howard’s ability to transcend genres with her storytelling.

Howard offered moving renditions of her song “Stay High” and Nina Simone’s “Revolution.” Doechii, performed a high-energy set, including “Boiled Peanuts” and “Crazy.”

The event underscored the shared mission of Rolling Stone and The Apollo to honor Black artistry and cultural impact, cementing Musicians on Musicians reputation as a cornerstone for celebrating the music industry’s biggest talents, blending perspectives across generations and genres.

The Apollo Theater continues to offer important cultural events including the popular Amateur Night that has been the birthplace of countless artists.  Rolling Stone, a multi-platform content brand, is focused on “telling exceptional stories that illuminate the culture of our times”.  The event sponsor Sonesta Hotels is one of the largest US hotel chains and says it “offers guests unparalleled value and personalized experiences.”
