Were you one of the millions that were captivated by the action comedy The Gentlemen earlier this year? If so, click inside for some good news!
This week (August 14th), Netflix announced that The Gentlemen has been renewed for a second season. The series, which stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario as partners in crime, will return with eight episodes in season number two. James and Scodelario will reprise their roles as aristocrat Eddie Horniman and drug empire heiress Susie Glass. Daniel Ings will also return as Freddy, Eddie’s unreliable, cocaine-addicted older brother. Additional casting news for season two will be announced at a later date and filming of the series will commence next year.
Season one found Eddie Horniman unexpectedly inheriting his father’s sizeable country estate – only to discover it’s part of a cannabis empire. Moreover, a host of unsavoury characters from Britain’s criminal underworld want a piece of the operation. Determined to extricate his family from their clutches, Eddie tries to play the gangsters at their own game. However, as he gets sucked into the world of criminality, he begins to find a taste for it, with an unexpected ally found in the sophisticated yet ruthless Susie Glass.
In addition to James, Scodelario and Ings, show creator Guy Ritchie will also return to direct and write alongside co-writer Matthew Read. Will Gould, Frith Tiplady (Moonage Pictures), Marc Helwig (Miramax Television) and Ivan Atkinson serve as executive producers with Ritchie and Read.
Stay tuned for more information about the series (which is set in the world of Miramax’s The Gentlemen film) and it’s upcoming second season. If you haven’t watched the first season, it’s currently available on Netflix.
