Irv Gotti, co-founder of record label, Murder Inc., and a prominent music producer, faces allegations of sexual assault and abuse, as detailed in a lawsuit filed in Miami on July 11 and reported by People.
The lawsuit, brought by an unidentified woman referred to as Jane Doe, accused the Grammy Award-winning producer of raping and abusing her between 2020 and 2022. Jane Doe claimed the incidents began shortly after she met Gotti through a mutual friend at a poker game in 2020. Allegedly, their relationship turned tumultuous during a vacation in St. Martin, where she claimed Gotti coerced her into having sex.
“Gotti specifically threatened Plaintiff that he would send her home if she did not comply with his demands. Accordingly, and due to his power and influence in the music world, she complied,” the lawsuit stated, according to People.
After they returned from St. Martin, the plaintiff alleged that she and Gotti began dating, their relationship lasting until 2022. According to the suit, their romance allegedly turned dark as she claimed she “suffered constant abuse” at the hands of the hip-hop star.
Per the suit, in January 2022, Jane Doe alleged that during one encounter with the music mogul, Gotti compelled her to perform oral sex on him in a Miami hotel elevator. She further alleged that later that year, he forced her into another oral sex act, this time in the back of an Uber in Atlanta.
“As a result of this sexually abusive relationship, plaintiff has suffered severe emotional and psychological harm for which she had to be committed to a psychiatric ward,” the lawsuit claimed.
Irv Gotti has not responded to the allegations thus far. The plaintiff is requesting that the suit proceed to trial and is also seeking an unspecified amount of compensatory damages.
Gotti abuse accusations come as other prominent members of the hip-hop community face similar ones.
In March 2024, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ residences in LA and Miami were raided by the Department of Homeland Security due to sex trafficking allegations that surfaced about him. The explosive incident occurred two months before CNN obtained alarming surveillance footage of Diddy hitting, kicking and dragging his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, in 2016. The footage corroborated several of the former Bad Boy songstress’s claims in her now-settled federal lawsuit in which she accused the Grammy Award-winning rapper-turned entrepreneur of assault and rape.
In 2023, Antonio “L.A.” Reid, the Grammy Award-winning music executive who shaped the careers of inimitable stars like Usher and Mariah Carey, was also accused of sexual assault by former Arista A&R Vice President Drew Dixon. According to court documents obtained by the New York Times, Dixon alleged that the music mogul sexually assaulted her twice when she was employed under Arista in the early 2000s. The music producer and activist claimed that Reid “retaliated against her” after she rejected his sexual advances.
