Black Owned Tequila Brands You Should Try On National Tequila Day
For those who don’t know, July 24th is officially recognized as National Tequila Day. So it’s probably good that it’s 5 o’clock somewhere… right?
Tequila is a distilled liquor and forever famous for, among other things, the power it gives your favorite margarita. It’s made from the blue agave plant, which is native to Mexico, and comes in a variety of styles.
According to Rock Market Beverage, tequila is tied for the fourth most purchased hard liquor in the US. It follows whiskey (1), vodka (2), and cognac (3). However, in New Mexico, Texas, California and Arizona, tequila sales are No. 1.
By the way – if you’re in Ohio, like me, then our No. 1 liquor sold is vodka. Seriously.
Of course, we all have our favorite brands. Hip-hop heads have been bragging about Patron and Don Julio for years. But did you know there are several Black-owned tequilas out there?
