Coachella 2025’s first weekend was one for the books, and the girls absolutely ran it. From surprise performances to politically charged messages, the Indio desert was lit up with fierce feminine energy, nostalgia, and bold calls for change. Check out our favorite moments inside.
Let’s start with the moment everyone’s still talking about: Megan Thee Stallion’s all-women takeover. The Houston Hottie headlined with a show-stopping performance that doubled as a celebration of sisterhood and power. Megan brought out Ciara, Queen Latifah, and Victoria Monét in a beautiful tribute to hip-hop, R&B, and femininity. Ciara had the crowd jumping with early-2000s anthems, Queen Latifah reminded us all who paved the way with “U.N.I.T.Y.,” and Victoria Monét oozed sensual brilliance with “On My Mama.” It wasn’t just a performance, but it was a moment of generational magic.
Just when you thought Coachella couldn’t get any more unexpected, Senator Bernie Sanders popped up on the main stage with a message to conscious (and not-so conscious) citizens. No, he didn’t spit a verse, but he did drop knowledge. Sanders urged the crowd to “stay awake, stay informed, and stay active,” encouraging young festival-goers to use their collective power for social change. Who knew the revolution would be televised and streamed live from the desert?
Of course, the ladies brought the heat all weekend long. Missy Elliott returned to the Coachella stage with unmatched energy and futuristic visuals, reminding us why she’s a legend. From “Work It” to “Lose Control,” she delivered hit after hit with flawless choreography and full throttle stage production. Meanwhile, GloRilla turned up with her Memphis fire for a memorable debut Coachella performance. She gave fans bars and confidence that radiated across the polo fields. Glo also debuted a new song that sampled Keyshia Cole’s “Love.” And Tyla, fresh off her global success with “Water,” delivered a dreamy, dance-filled set that fused amapiano with pop, proving she’s the future and the moment.
Coachella Weekend One reminded us why this festival still sits at the top. It wasn’t just the fashion or the celebrity sightings, but it was the message. Women led with passion, unity, and heat. Bernie reminded us of our power. And together, they gave us a weekend we won’t forget. Bring on Weekend Two.
