Tina Campbell has snagged a number one hit with her song “Pray for Me.” The song currently sits atop Billboard’s Gospel Airplay Chart.
Campbell, 50, took to Instagram to celebrate the feat. In a video she described how difficult it was to push the song out there because she was fighting some personal battles.
“Last year was one of the hardest years in my adult life, literally,” she said. “I put this song ‘Pray For Me’ out [and] was ready to go and push it and promote it and be available for stuff and life started happening and I had to stop.”
Campbell said she wasn’t available to be an artist because she had to deal with life. But, she’s thankful for God blessing her to allow the song to make a huge impact.
“So I haven’t even been available and God has still allowed this song to go up the chart which means more people are listening to a song about prayer,” she said. “More people are listening to a song that’s reminding them we don’t get here by ourselves. Somebody has to pray. Somebody has to talk to God on our behalf. I’m so glad somebody was praying for me”
Campbell reminded viewers that prayer changes things. The Bible says when two or more are gathered in the name of the Lord, He is among them.
“I’m so grateful that this song is reminding us all to pray because God says he will change things in the whole world, in your family, in your life, in the land, everywhere when we all pray,” she said. “I didn’t pray for this. I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t expect this. I just wanted the song to make a great impact and remind us to pray and God let it be number one.”
