Angel Reese sat down with Vogue to reveal what we already knew: she is a bonafide fashion girlie.
It’s no secret that she dominates both on and off the court. Her basketball talent, fused with her impeccable style, has captioned most of the world’s attention, and the Baltimore native is only getting warmed up in both genres. Reese was dubbed the “Bayou Barbie” while playing sports at Louisiana State University because she always kept it cute in addition to playing her heart out on the court.
Angel Reese Talks Fashion in Vogue
Fashion and sports have always intersected; however, due to social media, it has been publicized on a broader spectrum. Greats like track star Flo Jo, basketball phenom Michael Jordan, and tennis pro Serena Williams are all known for their one-of-a-kind talent and style. Nowadays, sports are about who’s winning and what the athletes are wearing. Vogue recently dissected the marriage between sports and fashion by interviewing notable and fashionable athletes, including Reese. The Chicago Sky Forward revealed to the magazine that just like basketball has always been a part of her world, so has fashion. “It’s always been both: basketball and fashion,” Reese told Vogue. “But I was a fashion girlie from youngtoo. I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff. I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do.”
Off the court, Reese has scored multiple partnership deals, including one with the notorious fashion brand Reebok. Basketball is clearly her thing, but the multihyphenate dreams of delving deeper into the fashion sphere by walking the runway during fashion week. “I used to watch America’s Next Top Model with Tyra and practice my walk in the living room,” reminisced Reese. Until the big fashion names come calling (and we are sure they will), the basketball star will continue to make the arena tunnels her catwalk.
