The NBA named Kenny Atkinson the 2025 Coach of the Year after a standout season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Atkinson helped lead the Cavs to a 51–31 record, landing the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. The team made a strong postseason run, marking one of its best seasons in years.

This is Atkinson’s first Coach of the Year honor. He took over after J.B. Bickerstaff was fired last summer. Atkinson quickly earned respect for his defense-first system and ability to develop young talent.

Under his leadership, players like Evan Mobley and Darius Garland took big leaps. The Cavs also ranked top-five in defensive efficiency.

Atkinson beat out Oklahoma City’s Mark Daigneault and Minnesota’s Chris Finch for the award. Both coaches led teams with strong regular-season records.

The Cavaliers are currently down 1-0 to the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

The Cavs’ future looks bright with Atkinson at the helm. Fans are already looking ahead to next season with high expectations.
