A student from Brookville High School is asking for an apology after she was struck in the head with a baton by an opponent.
It all went down Friday (March 7) at Liberty University in Virginia during the 4×200 relay race at the VHSL Class 3 State Indoor Championship. Kaelen Tucker, a junior at Brookville High, can be seen in video footage rounding the corner alongside Alaila Everett, a senior at I.C. Norcom High School.

A clip posted online shows the pair seemingly bumping shoulders seconds before Everett swung her baton, which ended up hitting Tucker in the head.

According to Tucker, the pain was immediate. She told a local news outlet that she experienced a headache and was later diagnosed with a concussion after seeking medical attention.
“After a couple times of hitting her, my baton got stuck behind her back like this, and it rolled up her back,” Everett said in her defense. “I lost my balance when I pumped my arms again.”
Everett added that there is more to the story than what is shown on video, and said she’s attempted to reach out to the student who was hit.
