Senator Deb Fischer of the GOP was recently sworn (Friday Jan. 3) into her third term during the 119th Congress swearing-in ceremony, however, her husband stole the spotlight with his, what social media users are calling, “classless” interaction with the Vice President.

While the oath itself proceeded uneventfully, the focus shifted from a congratulatory moment to what happened afterward.

Following the customary handshake between the Vice President and Senator, Harris extended her hand to Fischer’s husband, Bruce Fischer, who not only refused the gesture but also refused to look her in the eye.

One X user wrote, “”It’s disgraceful that Bruce Fischer, husband to incoming GOP Senator Deb Fischer, cannot muster a few seconds of class to shake the hands of VP Kamala Harris,” while another said, “”The husband of a Republican senator just refused to shake hands or make eye contact with Vice President Harris. The level of class you can expect from MAGA.”
