Aaron Pierre revealed he got into the best shape of his life to play his breakout role in the action thriller Rebel Ridge. In an interview with Men’s Health, he opened up about physically preparing himself to get into character. “We would spar. We would practice choreography. We would do drills. It was strength training, but I had to really work on being dynamic. This was one of the first times it fully set into me that flexibility is a strength because without flexibility, you can’t engage with your strength to its fullest capacity. That’s one of the things I learned from this and have doubled down on since then. I’m a big Yin Yoga lover now.”
Pierres’s lifestyle includes a paleolithic diet and his love for martial arts. The hunk revealed to Interview Magazine he bulks up for roles by eating foods like “Yams, boiled green bananas, and callaloo and saltfish.” He added, “I really enjoy doubling down on the yam and green banana and don’t really eat the dumplings as much.”
His most recent role in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King required a different type of prep. “I was incredibly nervous. I hadn’t ever sung with confidence outside the context of my shower before,” Pierre told On The Red Carpet at the film’s world premiere in Hollywood. “So this was a large step for me doing a Disney song as I’m sure you can appreciate.”
