“Since when were they red?” That’s the question posed by an onlooker as Harrison Ford’s President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross’s transformation into the Red Hulk is complete in the new trailer for Captain America: Brave New World.
Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, aka Captain America, will have his work cut out for him in Captain America: Brave New World.
In the latest trailer revealed at the first-ever D23 experience in Brazil, Cap, and the new Falcon, Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez), will be working together to avert a global disaster while fending off numerous threats, including the Red Hulk, allegedly Seth Voelker (Giancarlo Esposito) and The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson).
The trailer begins with Sam having a conversation with an incarcerated Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), one of the first supersoldiers we first met in the criminally underrated Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, who is in jail after a failed assassination attempt on President Ross’ life.
Bradley was a victim of the same brainwashing as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), and Sam knows Ross’ inner circle has been compromised, insisting on helping the President get to the bottom of this conspiracy to take him out, with Ross reminding him, “You’re not Steve Rodgers.”
Captain America: Brave New World aims to recapture the energy of Winter Soldier. The film sets itself up as an espionage/spy thriller film with that MCU flare we have come to expect—and that’s just based on the trailers alone.
It also looks like it will tie up some loose ends from other movies, like that giant dead Eternal chilling out in the ocean. So you all can finally stop talking about that,
