Let’s be honest: There is no such thing as having too many lip liners on hand. Lip liners provide definition, give your pout a defined look, and come in clutch to bring the ’90s dark lip makeup aesthetic to life. Not to mention, some lip liner formulas work wonders to keep lip makeup bleeding, fading, and feathering at bay. Now, what if I told you that Tower 28 Beauty’s OneLiner Lip Liner ($15, Tower28beauty.com) can help you elevate your lip and base makeup?
Definition and enhancement are the keys to a flawless pout. However, Tower 28 Beauty’s OneLiner Lip Liner claims to go beyond its lip-lining duties. According to their website, the OneLiner is a “creamy, high-pigment, non-drying matte liner for lips, eyes, and cheeks to create infinite looks.” This means you can use the lip pencils to contour along the bridge of your nose, as a base for your blush, and to create various lip makeup looks. Instead of grabbing three different products to bring your desired beauty look to life, this OneLiner does it all.
Although Tower 28 shares that the product is safe for all-over use, I love creating a nude lip combo with a mix of lip pencils and oils. So, once the brand sent me a few shades, I had to see if I could recreate a pinky-nude lip combo to complete my minimal everyday makeup look.
Before you create any lip combo look, it’s important to consider your skin’s undertone. Cool undertones are a match for blue and purple hues — think berry and true red hues. Neutral undertones play well with just about any shade. As for warm undertones, it’s best to keep corals and warm red tones handy. Not to mention, it’s always best to pick a defining liner that’s slightly darker than your fill-in shade to create dimension.
I lined my lips with Draw Me (a chocolate brown shade) and filled the center with Paint My Number (a muted mauve). I immediately noticed that the OneLiner glided seamlessly across my lips during the application. In addition, the pigment was super-easy to blend. I followed up with the Milani Cosmetics Fruit Fetish Lip Oil in Lychee Nectar ($11.99, Milanicosmetics.com), which boasts a flamingo-meet-light pink shade.
In my opinion, my ode to the quintessential ’90s brown liner and nude lip look is a chef’s kiss. The shades suit my melanin perfectly, and the gloss helps give my pout a nice pop. Thank you, Tower 28 Beauty!
