Fashion house Negris Lebrum took over the Mriya Galleria in Tribeca in style. The Black-owned clothing brand lit up the runway with preppy attire that not only screamed chic but paid homage to the culture by representing presidential candidate and Howard University alum Kamala Harris.
The HBCU-founded label and CFDA “Ones to Watch” honoree captivated the audience with a powerful statement through its SS25 collection, “Colors Unite Us.” The designer, Travis Hamilton, set out to honor Vice President Harris and her political stance. “Our collection reflects the intersection of fashion and politics, honoring the everyday woman in America and the core issues that Vice President Kamala Harris fights for,” said Hamilton in a press release.

The entire collection consisted of rich colors, including electric blue, old gold plaid, and deep hues of blue and black, merging sophistication, classic, and modern edge. Hamilton’s nod to culture was evident in his designs, which told a story of legacy, unity, and opulence. The preppy Kamala Harris sweater (pictured above) was a reverence to Divine Nine sororities and fraternity communities, and the varsity jacket is a collegiate staple turned fashion must-have that represented a casual, yuppie vibe.

The plaid, tailored suits (along with the Kamala Harris sweaters) were the cherry on top of the show. They boasted sleek, versatile styles that can be dressed up or down and worn for almost any occasion.
