Jackie Aina sat down with Brooke DeVard Ozaydinli and Sir John on The Naked Beauty Podcast to discuss her career, businesses, and friendships. The Nigerian American beauty YouTuber turned lifestyle guru and fragrance entrepreneur maintained clear boundaries during the conversation. She did not share details about her marital status despite much speculation. However, she shared many insights about friendship, love, business, and beauty.
The episode was so juicy that the podcast turned it into their first-ever two-part conversation. Here are key takeaways we got from Aina.
She Dealt With Mean Girls Growing Up
Aina revealed that the lighter-skinned girls in her neighborhood would dodge her.
“They would make it a point to hang out without me,” she said at the 5:00-minute mark. She did not “internalize” being ostracized by those girls.
She Helped A Friend Escape An Abusive Relationship
Aina described a time when she stuck up for a friend trapped in an abusive relationship at the 9:00 minute-mark of part one of the podcast. As a survivor of domestic abuse herself, Aina refused to leave her friend’s side until she got to safety.
“I physically probably shouldn’t have done this because it wasn’t very safe. I physically showed up for somebody that I knew,” she said. “I suspected her partner was doing things. I suspected, I didn’t have proof, but something was going on, and I was like, ‘I’m not leaving.’”
Aina sent her friend on a flight to her family. “She never looked back,” said Aina.
She started her YouTube channel with encouragement from her bestie
Jackie Aina served as that friend destined for social media stardom to someone. “My best friend was the one that told me to start YouTube,” she said at the 28-minute mark. “I had no interest in starting a YouTube so, shout out to her.”

She Feels Most Beautiful With Her Man, Her Man, Her Man
Aina did not comment on rumors regarding her nuptials, but she did reflect on how being loved by her partner makes her feel at the 56-minute mark of part two. She said she feels most beautiful “first thing in the morning, like, right when I wake up next to my man,” with “morning breath and everything, honey, I love it.”
“I feel the most beautiful with him, for sure,” she added. “I do; I feel most beautiful with Dennis.”
Sir John, who presumably knows more about their relationship than our nosy selves, responded, “I can see that.”
She Received Encouragement From Her Family, Not Aggression
Many people with beautiful dark skin endure rude comments from elders about staying out of the sun or wearing a hat. They were taught that they should be trying to hide the way they were created. That was not Aina’s life growing up.
“I’m really grateful that in my household, there wasn’t shame and humiliation around the way you look. And I know a lot of people don’t have that experience,” she said. “They grow up hearing insults from their parents, of their siblings, or being called ugly or whatever, or being made fun of for being dark. I didn’t experience that growing up.”
She Bickers With Her Family In Private Just Like We Do
Aina shared why she is so committed to sharing “surface level” tidbits of her interior life and nothing more at the 53-minute mark of part one. “You can’t use my favorite color against me like you can’t use you can’t use the fact that I like shopping at Hermes against me. Like, what can you do with that? That’s nothing.”
She touched on what she protects, including her relationship with family members. “But if my sister says something that annoyed me, you’re not gonna know.”
Aina wanted to prevent participating in untruths that fester on the internet. “I learned that when it comes to being a creator, if you give an ounce, oh, the way they will rewrite a whole movie with that ounce about you. So, you know what I learned? I’d rather say nothing. I’d rather you make stuff up. I’d rather you make stuff up from thin air. Because then I can sleep at night knowing at least I didn’t give them something to start with.”
“That’s so Beyoncé of you,” remarked DeVard Ozaydinli in response.
