Once again, Donald Trump and his campaign are making it clear they do not know how to read the room.

While GOP officials are scrambling to get the party’s more extreme MAGA members to veer away from invoking racism and sexism in their attacks against Vice President Kamala Harris, the campaign for the tantrum-thrower-in-chief is out here posting images on social media that just screams: “KEEP THE FOREIGN BLACKIES OUT OF OUR NEIGHBORHOODS!!”

Seriously, WTF is this?

That’s right, Trump’s campaign posted a side-by-side image of a nice suburban American neighborhood and, on the other side, an image of a crowd of Black people who areI don’t know—sitting around outside of some public building in some urban area, or whatever. Some of them have cups. They could be migrants. They could be poor people on the streets. They could be people waiting for concert tickets. (Seriously, there’s no real context here. Apparently, a large group of Black men sitting around outside somewhere is the MAGA version of a dystopian nightmare.)

The side with the image of the suburbs is accompanied by the caption: “Your neighborhood under Trump.” The side with all of the Black people reads, “Your neighborhood under Kamala.” (At some point we’re going to have to talk about the way white conservatives keep calling Harris by her first name while never failing to refer to her opponent or any white male officials and professionals, for that matter, by their surname. For now, let’s just focus on the blatant racism,)

“Import the third world. Become the third world,” the Trump campaign captioned the post on X, revealing their intent to paint Harris as a president who would let undocumented migrants take over the country, which has been one of the GOP’s more common attacks on the Biden administration.

Here’s a question: Who is this post even for?

Somebody in the GOP would probably do well to inform Trump that he already has the white nationalist vote. The great replacement theorists are already going to flock to the voting booth so they can cast their vote to protect whiteness at all costs. Now, that Harris has replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee and proven that she isn’t going to be the slam dunk for Trump that MAGA Republicans thought she would be, one would think the campaign would be chasing swing voters—not racists who would swing Black people from trees if it were still socially acceptable.

What’s worse is that the campaign probably believes it is sticking to issues that matter with this Jim Crow-ish meme it posted. Again, part of the MAGA strategy is to keep hitting Harris with the immigration crisis at the southern border. For the most part, that means lying about the number of migrants who crossed the border under Biden and lying about crime, which they claim has surged due to migrants coming into America, which, of course, is an assertion that is not supported by facts or statistical data.

So, Trump and his Trumpeters can’t stick to the issues without lying, and they can’t lie without being blatantly racist.

We have a long few months ahead of us before November. Buckle up!
