For Tequila Wright, the CEO of Delisa Rose — a Black-owned luxury brand showing for the first time at Paris Fashion Week this year — Black Business Month is essential to “promoting inclusivity in the marketplace.”
While we support Black-owned businesses all year round, August places a spotlight on business owners and entrepreneurs. Think of it like a call to action to support the companies for us, by us. “Providing opportunities for job creation within black communities can enhance relationships and foster empowerment. Recognition is something all black businesses deserve,” says Rose.
August is National Black Business Month, an opportunity to support and celebrate Black-owned businesses. According to the Department of Small and Local Business Development, citing recent data, “there are approximately 3.12 million Black-owned businesses in the United States. These businesses employ 1.18 million people and generate $133.7 billion in total sales, highlighting their significant contribution to the economy.”
