Understanding the transformative power of faith has been a cornerstone of my Christian journey from its early stages. Reflecting on my life, it’s clear that many opportunities that unfolded before me resulted from unwavering faith. I distinctly remember making bold decisions—leaving jobs, ending relationships—believing that new doors of opportunity would open. And they did.
The alignment of our faith with God’s power is fundamental in manifesting His intentions for our lives. In 2013, as I approached graduation from the Fashion Institute of Technology, I experienced firsthand the undeniable power of faith. I had a vision of traveling to South Africa—vivid and clear. Despite lacking a concrete plan, I declared my intention to everyone I encountered, saying, “I don’t know how I will get there or who will fund it, but I am going free of charge.” My conviction was met with skepticism, but my faith was unwavering.
The Power of Faith
Faith is not merely about believing; it involves taking actionable steps toward your vision. After praying and seeking guidance, I was inspired to contact an organization I was affiliated with about their annual South Africa trip. Remarkably, due to my proactive approach, I was considered for one of the limited spots, showcasing how faith paves the way for opportunities.
Faith is more than an internal belief; it requires taking steps toward realizing your dreams. It means stepping out of your comfort zone and trusting that God will guide you. The story of the woman with a blood disorder in the Bible exemplifies this. For 12 years, she suffered in isolation, deemed “unclean.” Upon hearing Jesus was in town, she ventured out despite societal norms, touching His garment in faith for healing. Jesus responded, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
Her faith didn’t start when she touched Jesus’ garment; it began when she courageously left her home. She disregarded potential judgment and embraced faith-driven action to pursue her healing.
Consider your dreams and purpose. Are you willing to move beyond complacency and the fear of judgment to pursue them? Your faith journey may differ from mine or the woman with the blood disorder, but the promise remains consistent: “And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
Embrace faith as a catalyst for change. Even if fear of failure looms, take the risk. Many of my attempts didn’t unfold as expected, but each provided valuable lessons. Failure is often a matter of perspective. When you view setbacks as learning opportunities, you shift your approach from fear to growth.
Your faith isn’t strengthened by reading about others’ accounts of their faith; it’s strengthened when you step out on it. Can I encourage you to Seek God’s guidance and ask for the strength to overcome the doubts that have imprisoned your faith?
Let’s Pray:
God, Your Word declares that without faith, it is impossible to please You. I desire to be pleasing in Your sight. Equip me with the strength to step out in faith. You promised never to leave or forsake us, and I trust that promise. No place is beyond Your reach, so if I step out, I trust that You will support and sustain me. Equip me with undeniable and unshakeable faith to fulfill all You have created me to do. Amen.
By nurturing your faith and acting upon it, you can unlock doors that lead to extraordinary opportunities.
