After DNC Speech, Sen. Laphonza Butler Claps Back At Megyn Kelly’s Remarks About HBCU Pride

California Sen. Laphonza Butler addressed a white, fragile and extra salty tweet from former Fox News twit Megyn Kelly, who decided to strap on her Karen back boots, hop on social media and pretend she doesn’t understand the history behind historically Black colleges and why HBCUs are still celebrated with pride today.

At a brunch yesterday for the Senator following her speech on the first night of the DNC that was hosted by The Collective Pac, an organization that, according to its website, works to “build Black political power,” Butler directly addressed some particularly moronic caucasity by Megyn (Oh: the whole thing about building Black political power? Let’s keep that between us because, you know, this Karen is definitely a calling-police-for-no-reason Karen).

Here’s Butler’s pitch-perfect response

“So, my sister, who lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, sent me a screenshot of a tweet from Megyn Kelly—Megyn Kelly, the former Fox lady—[who] quoted my remarks from the DNC stage last night…(Kelly) intended to ridicule the fact that I noted a thing I have in common with the vice president [….:] we both graduated from historically Black colleges. Her ridicule was… ‘… what if white folks went up on stage and talked about how they graduated from white schools?’”

Butler continued, explaining Kelly’s ultra-tearsy white nonsense as the audience gasped at the sheer caucasity, which is when, without missing a beat, she deadpanned:

“That’s every other school.”

With that nonsense out of the way….

Butler continued her discussion before brunch attendees by sharing that she and Harris being HBCU grads is “one of the things [she’s] most proud of as we elect Vice President Harris to the presidency…”

As we previously reported, on the opening night of the DNC, Butler took the stage and told the audience that she and Harris “share a lot in common,” specifically, the fact that they “both graduated from historically Black colleges.” Apparently, that simple acknowledgment of HBCU love got Kelly’s reverse Jim Crow senses tingling, and the white woman who doesn’t think blackface is racist but does think Jesus and Santa Claus should only be depicted as white got really offended by Butler’s anti-whiteness.

Laphonza Butler spkg – (she filled Feinstein’s seat) – celebrating that she and Harris both graduated from historically black colleges. Imagine the white person up there: I’m proud to tell you I went to a mostly white university!

(Eyes automatically rolling)

“Laphonza Butler spkg – (she filled Feinstein’s seat) – celebrating that she and Harris both graduated from historically black colleges. Imagine the white person up there: I’m proud to tell you I went to a mostly white university!” Kelly tweeted.

Honestly, Butler didn’t need to address Kelly’s easily deconstructed double-standard claim. After all, Megyn Kelly might not be the brightest blonde wig in the Fox News dressing room, but she’s smart enough to know that HBCUs exist because of American racism, and they’re still celebrated today because they have built legacies. Kelly isn’t that dim, she just knows her audience.
Still, shout out to Sen. Butler for unapologetically doubling down on her HBCU pride instead of caving to the ahistorical white racist version of political correctness.
That’s right—we know who the real “snowflakes” are.
